creative commons
The goal of the Creative Commons Foundation is to encourage the growth of material in the public domain by creating a more flexible copyright framework than the 'all rights reserved' approach.
Creative Commons licenses allow authors, artists and musicians to dictate under what conditions members of the public can distribute or create derivative works of licensed material. Creators can choose to place their content in completely the public domain, or to retain more control over how and in what circumstances the content can be used.
Canadian versions of Creative Commons licenses are currently available through Creative Commons Canada. All items in the Toolkit are licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike 2.5 Canada License.
This license includes the following conditions of use:
Attribution: You let others copy, distribute, display, and perform your
copyrighted work – and derivative works based upon it – but only if they
give you credit.
Noncommercial: You let others copy, distribute, display, and perform your
work – and derivative works based upon it – but for noncommercial purposes
only.
Share alike: You allow others to distribute derivative works only under
a license identical to the license that governs your work.
If your resource cannot be accommodated by the Creative Commons License, please contact LILAC.
